Change of Pace

Sorry!

I lied!

Remember you can't believe everything you read on the internet!

Sister and I took Dad to a new doctor yesterday. OMG, a physician who asks questions and responds and asks more.

He literally checked Dad for injuries from falls, talked about Parkinson's symptoms, increased medications, discontinued a medication that could have been part of the fall problem, and prescribed an anti-depressant (short term). He is also going to start physical therapy three times a week.

As we left the office and during the ride home, I could see the hope rising in my dad's spirit. He actually said he had been afraid the new doctor was just going to shake him head and tell dad that he would be joining Mom any day now. (Not that that can't still happen but at least Dad is aware that he has choices).

The Guy and I are headed to the old house today. Still preparing kitchen and bathroom cabinets for painting, pulling down wallpaper and patching nail holes in walls to paint.

Dad's old house on the river is a ranch style; white with brown trim. He has two long window boxes and entry door that need some freshening up. I suggested a pretty apple-green color. You should have seen the look on his face. When I tried to explain how the door needs to be inviting and intriguing he suggested turquoise 'if it's really necessary'!

He is such a Dude! He thinks that being on the river is enough of an incentive to buy the house. I say let's sweeten the pot and make the house inviting. He says, once people sit in the peaceful yard, listening to the hundreds of bird and the flowing water of the river, they won't care what the house looks like!

DADS!

So what do you think? Apple Green or Turquoise?

    1. Traitor!!!! Actually, I love the turquoise, too.

We're all so happy to find a proactive doctor. (might even have to change to him!)

  2. Hmmm...I like them both. You said there was brown trim as well? I think the green would be better with the brown. Go nuts and paint the brown white and go turquoise. I really like the white and turquoise. :-) It's so happy.

    1. I like both, too. The reason (don't tell) I liked the apple green is that I have to paint kitchen cabinets, too. We were thinking of white uppers and darker lowers. I thought the apple green would be appealing for the lowers. Looks like we're going with a medium tan for lowers.

  3. That sounds like a great doctor. Some are just do good at their job!

My favourite colour is blue, so that's an easy choice for me. But since there's brown trim, I think the green might fit better.

    1. The doctor is wonderful. Who knew a proactive physician could be found in Redding!

My favorite color is turquoise, so it's not hard to go there but somehow the apple green seemed joyful, which we could all use a little more of.

  4. Oh, the joys of moving a senior! I would take the suggestion of the realtor, and tell Dad that's who said what to do.

    1. My dad took the actual move better than we thought, but is now flipping from 'let's sell now' to 'let's hold on and make it a family vacation place.'

Want a house on the Sacramento River?

    1. Excellent news about the doctor. Gave Dad a real boost.

Yeah Hilary! I'll tell Dad that Hilary advises the Apple Green!

My sister loved the color so much, she used it to pain a little bistro set in her back yard! It is such a joyful color.

  6. I vote for apple green -- inviting but not a shock to the system.

    1. Yay! Two votes for apple green! It is a calming color. Makes one want an ice tea and lemon cookie, where as the turquoise screams for margarita and chips!

  7. I like the turquoise!!! But you know, your dad is wise. People are so different. When we start looking for a home, it won't be based on how the place looks to us, because we have a great vision for what we want! But...it'll be based on the tranquility of the place. I'm so glad your father has a GOOD doctor who seems to care about his welfare!

    1. I like both colors though the neighbors lean toward the conservative side, so the apple green seemed softer. Maybe I can find a softer turquoise. (Compromise, what a concept!)
