When I was a kid (Jurassic Period) our family would play lots of board games. Then I married a man who loved, loved board games.
Our family still loves to gather around the table and beat the crap out of each other! Nothing like winning at Life, Scrabble or Scattergories, except maybe when you are playing team games. Us against Them! Trivial Pursuit, Cranium, Pictionary.
Thanksgiving is within reach. I can hear the board games in the cabinet humming in anticipation!
I love the gravy and dressing. Hard to resist seconds on the pumpkin pie, especially my mom's. But, lets be honest.
Clear the table, mix the margaritas and let the games begin!
What is your favorite board game?

Warning: This one can be very dangerous. Almost stroked out playing with my granddaughters last year! |
That's cool. In an effort to be somewhat less connected to the internet, we've recently purchased Monopoly. We've yet to open it, but maybe tonight is going to be board game night. :)
ReplyDeleteSitting around the table or on pillows on the floor, there is nothing like the exchanges that go on, including teasing, dissing and taunting. I hope you enjoyed your game.
DeleteSometimes my husband and I like to play a simple game of Rummy. It's like being on a see-saw. He'll be up and then I will, but the challenge is always there.
I loved board games as a kid but haven't played in a very long time. My late husband, son and I played Monopoly often but that was another lifetime ago. My absolute favorite of all time...Life! I love that spinner and the little cars with the pegs in them..lol. Great memories of playing that as a kid.
ReplyDeleteLife was fun! It was always funny when one person had a peg that wouldn't stay in the little car! Anarchist little pegs! I loved playing it with my kids when they all lived at home.
DeleteWe had the classics, like checkers, Chinese checkers, parcheesi and Monopoly. My sister and I used to make our own board games. I remember we made this EPIC one that involved Star Trek and dilithium crystals or some damn thing, LOL!
ReplyDeleteLove, love Chinese checkers. My dad made us our own parcheesi board with a piece of plywood and little holes for marbles. We called it Wahoo!
DeleteWe we were in our twenties, a friend and I created a game board and various pieces, mostly wine corks painted and bedazzled. There was no point to the game but it was fun to take to bars with us and shaking dice and moving pieces. People would gather around us and cheer us on. We ended calling it Emperor's New Clothes because so many people would pretend they knew what the game was and how it was won!
Reminds me of your Epic Star Trek and dilithium crystal game! Just a side note. Yesterday, while purging some books I found one of my sons' old Guide to Speaking Klingon book. Fantasy is so intriguing!
