Friendly Friday Fill-ins

Friday! Another week shot by with barely a flicker! Is time really happening faster?

Several years ago, I began creating customized mandalas for some of the members of our metaphysical library. I use numerology to create them, using the person's name and birthdate, plus a short interview. They are sometimes just for meditation but some have asked for mandalas for healing or reaching a goal. I haven't done one in ages but I got a request for one and I'm excited to be doing one again.

I've posted a couple of them here on Wandering and Wondering but they've all been old ones. I'm excited to get started on a new one. Inspiration to get the dressers finished so I can get my studio back into Studio Mode!

These are some of the older ones. Revisiting them get me motivates me even more!

Time for Friendly Friday Fill-ins, a blog hop promoted by McGuffy's Reader and 15 and Meowing. Then I can get back to sanding the last dresser (hmm, but first a quick drive to Dutch Bros for a hot Kicker with an extra shot...best coffee ever!)

My fill-in (feelings)

1. The Winter Olympics are filled with incredible grace and also an awesome opportunity for the world to see young people who strive to be their best and do their best.

2. I think the most romantic movie (or book) is Enchanted April. One of my all-time favorites.

3. Recently, I had an odd experience when I was thinking about a friend who died about 10 years ago and heard three knocks on the window. No one was there, of course, but I knew his spirit was.

4. I believe that love is a gift of spirit. To 'be loved' is outstanding but 'to love' is exquisite.

Speaking of love, anyone have any Valentine's Day plans? Any Valentine's Day traditions you follow?

  1. Your mandalas are great Toni! :) Very very full of meaning, I love them. :) I bet you can't wait to get back to your studio! :)

Valentines...well, I'm all about the love :) So...I decorate with hearts all over the place. Our monthly fondue night falls on the 14th so we're having a nice fondue by candle light and some romance too! I always buy chocolates and I make Alex a Valentine's day card, just like the old ones we had as kids, the goofy ones, like "Bee my Valentine" with a bee on the card lol...I made that one last year for him! I'm going to make a chocolaty special dessert too and we'll have some Moscato wine!! :) I may wear some red undies to boot lol! ;)

    1. Sounds romantic and fun!

One year The Guy and I made chocolate mousse and chocolate covered strawberries. We invited some couples over for a nice dinner and some dancing. We wanted to serve the mousse in chocolate bowls. You dip a powder sugar dusted balloon into melted chocolate. When it hardens it's a nice little bowl. We got water balloons! Big Mistake. They are especially thin, easier bursting! Burst they did! Every time we dipped one into the chocolate, it would explode. Chocolate was every where! Cabinets, counter, floor, ceiling, us! The Guy suggested we get naked to make bowls!

We went back into town and bought 10" latex balloons and only blew them up a tiny bit. We got our ten bowls and had fun making them. I can't remember laughing so much while cooking!

I might suggest making chocolate bowls this year and only red underwear! Need to get water balloons!

  2. Your mandalas are gorgeous! Do you make them on the computer or do you draw/paint them by hand?

    1. Thank you, Debra! Some of the mandalas start out with graphic art and end up with hand painted finishes and others are just the opposite. Depends on the person I am making them for, their preferences. I use Corel Paint Shop Pro.

  4. Oh my gosh your mandalas are beautiful! What a lovely thing to do. It must be exciting to get back to this!

I have had a lot of odd experiences in my life, especially during periods where I've been more spiritually aware. They all make for an interesting day. LOL

    1. Do you ever wonder how much stuff happens around us that we just aren't aware of, or don't notice? I wonder how often my angels have slammed a door because I'm too busy to listen.

    1. Enchanted April is one of those movies that just kind of showed up one day. Never heard about it until my daughter told me I had to watch it. Another great movie that I never hear about is The Secret of Roan Inish!

    1. Thank you. I love mandalas.
Using Numerology, I use the the Life Path Number (adding up all the numbers of a birthdate) to calculate the number of spokes on the wheel of the mandala. The Heart Number is all the letters of your name added up. I use that number for the number of wheels from center to outside of mandala. The colors, and design of the mandala depends on the answers to the interview and characteristics of the numbers. My Life Path number is 8, and my heart number is 11. So my own mandalas have 8 spokes and 11 wheels or layers. Some people want to use the date of their marriage, the date of a special event.
