Today, I Celebrate Small Things

Joined a new-to-me Blog Hop hosted by self-proclaimed "certified nutcase", L.G. Kelter and Thriller/Horror writer, Lexa Cain in their I Celebrate Small Things blog circle.

Today, I am celebrating:

1. Committed to the colors for the bedroom walls. Always knew that Sherwin Williams Lazy Gray was going to be one of the wall colors to keep the consistency with the rest of the house, and that White Flour would be the trim color. Consistency, again. I just waffled between three different hues of blue for the lower half of walls.

2. When we moved in, many moons ago, I painted the master bedroom walls Cantalope and Adobe Sunrise. I truly celebrate how comforting these colors were, until they weren't. The Guy is a little hesitant in the color change. He says he loved the warmth the salmon hues gave the room.

3. Moved the bed and a chest of drawers and found a long lost earring and a gold chain necklace. Yay!

3. Celebrating the rain and dark skies. Good day to paint! No sunshine tempting me to take Rex or Lily for a walk. Though I can't promise that I won't grab a Dutch Bros Kicker later in day and take a drive to Whiskeytown Lake to clear my sinuses of the smell of paint!

Also discovered, while surfing the net, was Week 90 of Friendly Fill Ins. Oh what a procrastinator won't do to put off the cutting in part of painting. Might as well put in my 2 cents!

Here goes:

1. The flu shot is not something I would ever entertain the idea of. I worked in health care institutions for close to 35 years and ran the offices of two doctors. Both doctors strongly advised against getting a flu shot. Besides being a virtual roulette game of which strain to choose for the virus, the bonding agents used in the serum are questionable. Most people I know usually come down with the flu within weeks of getting the shot and almost always say, "Yes, but it could have been much worse if I hadn't had the shot!" p.s. I haven't had the flu in years and years but it could have been much worse if I'd had the shot!

2. I think everyone should take sublingual vitamin B12 daily.

3. I (almost) always tell the people around me that I love them and that I am proud of them, because one never knows when or if I might not have the opportunity to tell them tomorrow!

4. I (almost) never a) spit watermelon seeds, b) wear shoes or a bra because a) I can't get any force behind it, so a seed tends to just slide off my chin, b) shoes and bras suck!

Okay, I guess I am not going to join the "I Celebrate Small Things" blog hop. The Linky link code crashed my post. Nice idea but going to have to pass, though I am still celebrating those little things today.

Time to stop procrastinating and cut in those edges and corners!

  1. Great things to be thankful for. I enjoyed your fill-ins too. I have always been pro flu shot, but now you have me wondering about the bonding agents. I take my shoes and bra off the minute I get home. :) Have a nice weekend!

  2. i like reading your article on the flu shot. i have never gotten one and rarely have gotten the flu in the past even when I was younger (much older now)... Those around me have gotten them and usually get a case of the flu. Recently at the doctor's office I was asked if I wanted one and I declined. I like reading your thankful article. When I'm home i never wear anything but loose comfortable clothes and the more i am home the more I never put on a pair of jeans unless i am going out to the store or something.

    1. In the '50's lots of immunizations used mercury for a binding agent. With a rise in dementia, it's no surprise that aluminum and formaldehyde are popular binding agents today. Plus the flu shot can often still have egg in it from the growing of the virus. If I wear jeans at home, they are the softest, oldest ones I have!

  3. Ha! I don't wear shoes or bras either! But then, I live in pj's and hats lol! :) I had a flu shot in 2009. Guess what? I got the flu in (drumroll).....2009!!! First and last time I ever got the flu shot AND the flu. Crazy. I spit every seed lol...but always in a genteeeel lady-like way in a napkin. Rather that then have a seed-toothed smile lol! :)

    1. Flu shots are just scary!

I live in my jammies too! One day my mother-in-law did a surprise visit mid-afternoon and I was reading in my softest flannel pajamas and knit socks. She wrinkled her nose and said something about how she could never not get up and take a shower right away! I told her I sleep naked, get up shower and then put jammies on! Yup, her son sleeps with a naked woman!

    1. Powered through, two coats of Lazy Gray, one coat of Aquarain. Back to work as soon as I'm done with my coffee this morning! Retirement is about taking the pressure off of time!

  5. I never get flu shots and I've only had the flu once in my life, many moons ago. I know a lot of people swear by it and that's okay. It's just not for me.

Make sure to share the results of any painting projects! I'd love to see them.

    1. I'm especially leery of flu shots for older people. So many of our parents have total trust in doctors and drugs, it's scary.

When on picnics at the beach or lake, we often have watermelon seed spitting contests. Usually one of the guys suggests it. They see who can spit a seed the furthest. So if it's my assignment to bring the watermelons, I try to get the seedless! Volleyball is a better sport than spitting seeds!

  7. Toni,

Thanks for popping in on me. I enjoyed reading your CTST, as well as your Friendly Fill-ins. I can shoot watermelons seeds pretty far but I generally eat them especially if I'm eating it indoors. It's just too much trouble to spit them into my plate or hand. lol Have a good week!

    1. I eat the seeds, too. My consistent authority issues have always tried to prove 'don't eat the seeds or you'll grow a watermelon in your stomach' wrong!

  8. Welcome! Okay...I agree with #1. I would like you to elaborate on #2. Why do you feel that way about B-12? I also do #3, even , or perhaps because, I was never told this growing up. I am a hugger, too. There is power in hugs. #4 made me LOL! Thanks! I wish I could follow you by email. Do you have that option?

  9. Thanks for visiting! Sublingual Vitamin B12 gives me so much energy, it helps kick-start my day! I think clearer, and feel just a bit more 'with-it' when I remember to take it.

#3- I'm a hugger and a toucher. No hugs or touching growing up, either.

I'm not sure how to make following by email possible for my blog. Will look into it.
